Benin prostatic hypertrophy

Many people have suffered from enlarged prostates over many years but today there are several treatments for this condition available in the market. Flomax is one of the best drugs that many doctors prescribe for this condition. The medical terms that are used to refer to enlarged prostates include BPH (Benin prostatic hypertrophy) or prostatic hyperplasia. Flomax works just like the popular alpha blockers. It works by blocking the alpha1 receptors that are found in all parts of the body including the prostate. When these receptors are blocked, they give room for the muscles to relax in the bladder, neck, and the prostate.

Flomax does not shrink the prostate but its symptoms are relieved faster when the muscles are relaxed. This explains why Flomax does not treat prostatic hyperplasia but it can relieve a patient from its symptoms. Flomax is taken orally through the mouth each day and at least thirty minutes after taking the main meals. This drug comes in a capsule form and it should be taken as a whole. You should not open the capsule, crush, or chew it to avoid vomiting. Flomax should be taken at the same time each day to allow for the uniform distribution of it in your blood. Flomax must be taken strictly as prescribed by the doctor to ensure that it works properly.

Flomax pill contains a 0.4 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride, which is always prescribed to many patients. This dosage can be increased to 0.8 mg by a doctor depending on the patient’s condition. If you decide to stop this medication before completing your dosage, you will not have benefited from it because you are likely to suffer from a relapse.

Just like with other drugs, Flomax also has its side effects though its side effects are not experienced with all patients who are under this medication. Most of the people can bear these side effects very well since most of them are minor and do not need serious treatments by your doctor. The most common side effects for Flomax that have been reported include clod, flu, abnormal ejaculation, dizziness, and stuffy nose.

Before taking Flomax, you have to consult your doctor because most of the drugs can interfere with its effectiveness. You should also tell your doctor about your health history such as when you have allergies, among others. For the pregnant women, breast feeding women, or women who are planning to become pregnant, Flomax is not recommended, therefore you have to tell your doctor before taking it. Also men who have suffered or are experiencing low blood pressure should not take Flomax because they tend to lower its users blood pressure much more. For the ones who have a severe enlarged prostate and other problems that are related to it, they should take Flomax together with enzyme inhibitors.

Always remember to tell your doctor every detail of your current medication including whether its non prescription, non prescription drugs or herbal supplements. This will help your doctor in deciding on what is suitable for you.
